Ingredients

Hot Cocoa Mix

  • 150 g powdered sugar
  • 65 g unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1.5 g fine salt
  • 1 g instant espresso powder optional

To Prepare Hot Cocoa

  • 1 cup hot milk per serving
  • - A splash of vanilla per serving

Instructions

  • Sift the powdered sugar and cocoa powder into a bowl to remove lumps.
  • Add the salt and optional espresso powder. Whisk until evenly combined.
  • Spoon the dry mix into a clean, dry jar with a tight-fitting lid.
  • To make one mug, heat 1 cup of milk until steaming. Whisk in 25 g (about 3 tablespoons) of cocoa mix until smooth.
  • Pour into a mug and stir in a splash of vanilla. Top with marshmallows or whipped cream as desired.

Notes

- The espresso powder deepens the chocolate flavor; leave it out if you prefer.
- Keep the mix tightly covered in a cool, dry cupboard. Use a dry spoon and keep moisture and steam out of the jar.
- The mix makes about 8 cups of cocoa.
