Equipment

  • 1 measuring container or spoon pick one size, and use it for the ratio

Ingredients

  • 4 parts white sesame seeds
  • 2 parts black sesame seeds
  • 2 parts poppy seeds
  • 2 parts dry minced garlic
  • 2 parts dry minced onion
  • 1 part flaky salt

  • Store any remaining everything bagel seasoning in an airtight container to use for later.

Notes

Homemade everything bagel seasoning is one of those simple kitchen staples that makes everything taste better. Sprinkle it over avocado toast, scrambled eggs, roasted vegetables, or cream cheese bagels for instant gourmet flavor. The key to perfect texture is using flaky sea salt — it adds crunch without being overpowering. If you prefer less salt, just cut that part of the ratio in half.
You can easily double or triple this recipe to fill small mason jars and give as gifts — it’s a thoughtful addition to a homemade spice blend gift basket or a hope chest pantry collection.
For the best flavor, lightly toast your sesame and poppy seeds before mixing, and store the finished blend in an airtight jar away from heat and sunlight. It will keep fresh for up to six months.
This easy DIY seasoning mix uses a 4-2-2-2-2-1 ratio, so it scales beautifully whether you use teaspoons or cups. Once you make your own, you’ll never go back to the store-bought everything bagel blends again!
