Thrifting a Hope Chest
Check out Facebook marketplace for steamer trunks and chests. You’ll find all sort of option ranging from antiques to vintage reproductions, and even high end furniture for a great price. If you can’t find something there, be sure to visit some local thrift shops. You may even check some antique malls. This is a great way to find an affordable hope chest!
Practical but not so pretty
Sometimes, you may find that you just have to make do with what you’ve got. This fact of life might mean using a storage tote for a while until you can purchase a sturdier hope chest. Luggage trunks make great portable storage. In fact, I once hosted a hope chest girls summer camp and bought each girl a plastic trunk from Walmart for $20. Many of them still have theirs now, 10 years later! I’ve rounded up a few ideas on amazon for you here:
