We Bought a 2011 Dutchmen Voltage 3950 to Live in During Furlough!
Our family just made a big move—literally! We bought a 2011 Dutchmen Voltage 3950, and we’ll officially be living in it full-time over the next few months. It will be our home as we travel the country on furlough. If you haven’t seen the tour yet, check out our YouTube video right here to see our new home on wheels!
We are beyond excited about this season of life and ministry. After three years of planting a church in South Dakota, we’re hitting the road again to visit supporting churches, meet new ministry partners, and raise support for the next big chapter: launching our aviation ministry to reach more of the Upper Midwest. And what better way to do that than in a fifth-wheel camper that moves with us?
Why We Chose Camper Life for Furlough
Traveling full-time means constant change—but with the camper, we always have one thing that stays the same: home.No more sleeping in different beds every few nights or living out of suitcases in borrowed guest rooms. Our kids have their own beds, we have our own kitchen, and the whole family has a consistent, comfortable place to rest and recharge. Not to mention space for school books, hobbies, and more.
Living in a camper brings so many unexpected blessings:
- Huge cost savings: We’re not spending money on hotels or rental houses. Campgrounds are affordable, and sometimes churches even let us stay on their property for free!
- Flexibility: We can go anywhere the Lord leads. No need to stress over reservations—we bring our home with us!
- Togetherness: There’s something sweet about cozy living. It simplifies life and helps us stay close (literally and emotionally). It’s all part of the bigger picture of Plain Living.
- Ministry-ready: We’re able to set up quickly, stay organized, and roll out whenever a new opportunity arises. The toy hauler section gives us extra space for meetings, storage, and a bedroom for the boys.
A Look Inside
We’ve made this space our own, and it truly feels like home. From the kitchen where we prep home-cooked meals to the toy hauler room that gives us extra flexibility, the Voltage 3950 has everything we need for full-time ministry on the road. If you’re curious what the inside looks like, don’t miss the full walkthrough in our YouTube video! We’ll be adding new tours as we overhaul the interior of the camper to fit our needs.
Looking Ahead
As we travel on furlough, our camper is more than just a place to sleep—it’s a launchpad for ministry. We’ll be updating churches, sharing our vision, and preparing to return to South Dakota to plant even more churches—this time with aviation as a key tool to reach remote areas faster and more effectively.
We’re so thankful for this season and for the provision of a home that moves with us. If you’re considering camper life—whether for ministry, travel, or just a new adventure—we can’t recommend it enough!
